If you were expecting to find some rather dull-looking caskets here, we are sorry to disappoint you! One can see normal caskets by visiting any funeral home, so let's take a look at the more unique ones. Over the years, caskets have been made out of many different materials: from gold, wood, and lead to even stone. The purpose of burying the dead most likely came from not wanting the animals to eat the remains of the loved one. One can still be buried in a pine box if they choose, but most others prefer something a little more fancy. I have placed these particular coffins on this page due to their "interesting", if not somewhat comical nature. And I am told that a few of these coffins can still be purchased to use for burial. If you have any interesting coffins, either old or new, that you would like to share, please let us know.

Now, to me, this is a thing of beauty... simple... yet so dark....

This French beauty would be a second choice for sure...

Actually, the Raphael Angels have always been a favorite painting of mine...

This is nice too, only if I can be buried behind glass so that the world could see it...

Fairway to Heaven... a coffin with the 18th hole on it.... ummm.... no.

The Flag of Ireland... only if they prop me up in the corner of a pub with a pint in me hand.

Actually.... very pretty... almost serene...

I love this.... can I be buried with Caroline Lavelle in it?

This is too pretty to ever bury....

I was just informed that most of these caskets and more can be purchased online at Webcaskets.
